Carne Golf Links, located on the remote Mullet Peninsula in County Mayo, Ireland, offers a truly unforgettable golfing experience. Designed by the late Eddie Hackett, a renowned golf course architect, Carne features eighteen remarkable holes that blend seamlessly with the natural terrain. Hackett's vision for the course emphasized respect for the landscape, resulting in minimal earth movement during construction. Carne was Hackett's final masterpiece, considered by many to be his most challenging creation.

Following Hackett's design philosophy, a further nine holes were added to Carne in 2013. Known as the Kilmore Nine, these holes were developed by Jim Engh and Ally McIntosh to maximize the dramatic potential of the dunescape. The integration of the Kilmore Nine with the original Hackett course led to the creation of the Wild Atlantic Dunes course, which showcases the awe-inspiring corners of the world's largest dune system. This expansion transformed Carne into arguably the most spectacular links course in Ireland.

Visitors to Carne can now enjoy two distinct courses the original Hackett 18 and the newer Wild Atlantic Dunes 18. Both courses are played on alternate days, allowing golfers to fully immerse themselves in this raw and untamed golfing experience. Staying overnight in Belmullet is highly recommended to make the most of playing both courses over two days, an opportunity not to be missed.

Carne Golf Links has a rich history, having been founded in 1992. The Hackett course, consisting of 18 holes, offers a par 72 challenge, stretching 6,358 yards from the white tees. The newer Wild Atlantic Dunes course features 9 holes, with a par of 70 and a length of 6,287 yards from the white tees. Eddie Hackett, the visionary behind Carne's original course, ensured that both layouts provide traditional raw links golf at its finest.
