Hesketh Golf Club: Where Tradition Meets Challenge
Welcome to Hesketh Golf Club, the oldest golf club in Southport, steeped in history since its establishment in 1885. As a members club with an 18-hole links course, we take pride in offering a challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels.
Exciting news awaits us as Hesketh has been chosen to host Regional Qualifying for the Open Championship from 2023 through 2026. This prestigious event will showcase the beauty and quality of our course, set at the Northern end of the Merseyside sand dune system.
While predominantly a links course, Hesketh's landscape has undergone subtle changes, creating a slightly more diverse setting for seaside golf. Nature enthusiasts will be delighted to know that two holes border on a nationally renowned bird reserve, attracting awe-inspiring flocks of migrating geese, swans, and wading birds, a sight to behold throughout the year.
Our magnificent clubhouse stands proud, and the holes surrounding it are an integral part of the original course. Among them is the Par 3 16th, a favourite of visitors and Henry Cotton, a regular guest, who hailed it as the best short hole in Lancashire.
Apart from golfing pleasures, our clubhouse offers a relaxing bar, a delightful restaurant, and space for celebrations. For golf enthusiasts, our Pro Shop, run by Professional Scott Astin, provides top-notch services, including tuition and a performance studio.
Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just starting on your golfing journey, Hesketh Golf Club promises an unforgettable experience in a setting that seamlessly blends tradition with modern challenges. Come and tee off with us as we continue to create golfing history on these legendary fairways. We eagerly await your visit.
